Julie stood a distance away from the Whomping Willow, she was probably frustrating the poor tree to no extent, as she was just out of reach. Its bare branches had been making occasional swipes in her direction, but had been unable to lay a twig on her. Julie's brown eyes watched it, she remained quiet, sometimes she just needed a bit of silence for a while. She shivered as she drew her cloak more tightly around herself, the November air was cold. Although it was afternoon there was still frost on the grass beneath her shoes, her breath came out in white puffs against the steely grey sky. Julie was thankful that it wasn't raining, although the sky surely threatened it.
She trained her gaze upwards, to a little window of sunlight where the clouds had failed to cover. Julie smiled a bit at it, signs in nature like those made her remind herself to not give up hope. It was almost as if the sky were telling her that even in dark times, there was always some light. When that light went away, then humankind would be doomed. Julie sighed, and then sat down on the grass, pulling her knees up to her chest to keep warm. She wished winter would fall upon them already, she hated it when the weather was cold but there wasn't any snow...

As Julie was watching the Whomping Willow, Darren was watching her. He had his hands in the pockets of his dark cloak, the hood pulled over his head. He was ducked low in the bushes, eyes narrowed. This girl was peculiar. She almost seemed like she was hurt or something, like she was grieving. Nonetheless, she was very pretty and had a great body to boot. Darren had already won her over with his gentlemanly ways, and he planned on doing just that to get what he wanted out of her.

Julie, after a while, could not shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She wasn't sure if there really was someone out and about, or if she was just being paranoid, but either way she felt unsettled. Julie glanced over each shoulder, but didn't see anybody. She shivered slightly, returning to wrapping her arms around her knees, in an effort to retain some body heat. Julie was half-tempted to go inside, but she was practically hypnotized by the tree, how it moved as if it had a brain...

Darren gripped his wand instinctively. In the cold, his fingers were numb, but he didn't notice. All he was paying attention to was the fact that, if done right, there was one spell he could do, right then, to just knock her unconcious, or bind her, or put her under some other sort of torture. His mind was thinking too much like Isabelle's. Darren wanted to win her over, then use her, not torture her and use her. Where was the fun in that? Darren released his grip, eyes never leaving Julie.

Julie sighed, but in reality was suddenly very nervous. It was a natural instinct of most girls, having the feeling that someone was watching. She knew that she wasn't alone. Pulling out her wand from her cloak, Julie stood, and turned around, eyes traveling about the immediate area. "I-Is someone there?" Julie called out, holding her wand aloft, ready to cast a spell if need be. If it were Seamus or Hyperion again she might have to hit one of them, they knew how easily she got scared.

Darren gripped his wand tightly as Julie cried out. This was the decision, either he muttered the spell he had learned that counteracted any tracking spell Julie may decide to utter. Or, he could reveal himself. Taking a deep breath, he purposefully pricked his finger, scratching his robes on some brambles. "Ow!" he yelled then, coming out of the woods. "Dammit I.... Oh!" Darren feigned surpise at seeing Julie. "I'm sorry if I frightened you, I lost a ball in the woods. I can't seem to find it," he replied. He hid a grin: he had planned well.

Julie could have laughed at herself for being so silly. She stowed her wand away in her cloak, now smiling, though feeling a bit unsteady. At least it was Darren. She folded her arms, mostly because she was really cold. "Aren't you a bit old for such behaviour?" Julie asked, lightly teasing, "why don't you just use a summoning charm?" It was almost second nature for Julie, she would much rather do a bit of magic than spend ages looking for things she lost.

Darren held his hands up in mock defeat. "All right, you caught me. There's no ball. Somebody told me you'd be over here, and I wanted to see you," he replied with a dashing smile. She had to believe him then, for he knew what she felt. She wasn't good at hiding her emotions much. Darren crossed the remaining distance between them and smiled at Julie once more. "So, hi," he replied with a wink.

Julie found herself a bit skeptical, she didn't recall telling anyone that she would be around the Whomping Willow, she had gone on the spur of the moment. But she was a bit too overcome by Darren, he was so charming and handsome... She had a bit of a crush on the seventh year. "Most people would approach with a greeting rather than spying through bushes," Julie said, laughing a bit, trying not to shiver in the cold, "would you like to walk with me?"
